VANDROID
Vandroid is an original multi-platform entertainment property merging film, music and a graphic novel series that was first concieved in 2012 by Joe Stevens and Nicolas Randall. The original concept and screenplay has since been adapted by American graphic novel artist Tommy Lee Edwards. The soundtrack was created by Ed Bangers Records featuring Busy P, Mr Flash, Feadz and Mickey Moonlight, co-written by Nic Nicola.
The year was 1984.
In a windowless building on the outskirts of Los Angeles, an unknown purveyor of grindhouse cinema was beginning principal photography on what would be it's last movie ever.
The movie was called Vandroid, a sci-fi action spectacular about a home-built humanoid gone horribly wrong. According to a press release at the time this hugely ambitious project was set to feature "fast paced action with jaw-dropping special effects and a raft of memorable characters - all backed by an urgent, gripping synth score.
But sadly, Vandoid would not be completed according to plan. A few weeks after postproduction wrapped, a freak fire raged out of control, destroying the studio. The owners were found innocent. Insurance checks were cut. And the masters for the film were subsequently gone forever. Or so it seemed.
